Responding to the Event
I'm coming across a lot of content and conversation related to taking on a challenge—no surprise, with the challenge of COVID-19 on everybody’s mind.
The content comes from phone or video calls, from books, podcasts, blogs, and from social media posts. Books like "The Daily Stoic" or "The Obstacle is the Way" both by Ryan Holiday, stand out. Podcasts, blogs, and newsletters by Tim Ferriss, Morning Brew, The Hustle, Scott Adams, and Seth Godin, to name just a few, comment on our current challenges and provide insight.
And with social media comes so many interesting posts, people sharing their ideas and their experience. A person that stands out on LinkedIn, especially during this time, is Tim Kight.
On his podcast and in his LinkedIn posts, Tim talks a lot about E+R=O:
E is Event
R is Response
O is Outcome
Event + Response = Outcome
Earlier this year, I had the privilege of chatting with Tim for our podcast (listen). That recording has been an incredible asset for the team at KazSource / SportsEpreneur. Even if no one else ever listens to the episode, we have—and it helped us understand and get through the challenges we faced.
And that, by the way, is why you should create content; you have something to say that could help your team, your clients, maybe even people you’ve never met. You might not realize who needs to hear it, but someone does! Maybe it’s even you! You need your content!
Anyway, back to my story.
Just the other day, I was chatting with Matt Doherty and recording a podcast episode with him. He mentioned how Tim Kight has influenced him in a positive way, so, of course, I started thinking of Tim’s content and E+R=O.
Because we are in the middle of a challenge—the pandemic—there is maybe no better time than to share this podcast episode with you.
Pay attention to Tim on LinkedIn and The Focus 3 Podcast. Pay attention to those names I listed above. Find your own resources, too. Take advantage of the amazing content that's out there. And feel free to share your own thoughts—there are those that could use it.
